A Benefit for Occupy Fights Foreclosures

Occupy Fights Foreclosures held an art/music benefit at the Vortex in Little Tokyo on Sat, March 30th, 2013 to help raising money for our ongoing campaign to provide assistance and support for victims of fraudulent bank foreclosures.

Occupy Fights Foreclosures is a volunteer organization, but we do have day-to-day expenses and associated legal/court costs to do the work that needs to get done.

Performers included:

Hip hop activist ‘Wil B’ — Politically conscious hip-hop with a powerful populist message.  * ‘

The Mojo Monkeys' — “Swampy, rootsy, eclectic, danceable, humorous and soulful. Members have worked with artists ranging from Lucinda Williams to Mike Ness to Keith Richards to Bonnie Raitt. Together the chemistry is explosive.”  *

The Dan Janisch Band — “Part rock ‘n roll, part folk, twang, and preacher man.”

Gypsy funk band ‘Seeing Thingz’ — “A creative, high energy, wild & quirky mash-up of jazz and 90’s art rock with a bohemian streak.”

…plus spoken word from Tanya Alexander, Matt Sedillo, and Mark Lipman.

Occupy Fights Foreclosures has been very successful over the last year in its campaign to expose the corporate greed and corruption that is literally forcing families onto the streets. OFF was a big reason CA now has a Homeowners Bill of Rights and has organized marches, rallies, and direct action to highlight the plight of foreclosure victims while working to in the LA community to keep people in their homes.
